Sarasvati Ahimsa Van - Ecuador

Dear volunteer

We’re community followers of Vedic Principles starting up an organic farm and nature reserve in the middle of the Amazon rainforest. The farm is 16km outside of Tena, a small city situated in the Napo Province.

We are just starting up our project so there is a lot to be done… With your help we hope to enlarge our rainforest reserve as quickly as possible to protect the surroundings and the wild animals within. All of the volunteers who visit us have a great time, enjoy good food, company, permaculture and yoga.

We have just finished 2 big rooms for volunteers situated in the main cabin; one for males, the other for females. They both have a nice view. If you want a jungle experience (getting to know lots of strange insects, swimming in streams, swinging through the trees on vines and some tough but interesting voluntary work) then this is the place you've been looking for...

Volunteer Program:

Our volunteering program includes the following activities:

Permaculture

Eco building

Reforestation

Composting

Trail making

Chocolate making

Ecological programs for local schools and communities

Djembe drum making and playing

Yoga every morning

Kichwa classes

Vegetarian cooking

Teaching English

And much more…

Important points to be considered:

The food is lacto-vegetarian and consists of three scrumptious meals per day, based on healthy lacto-vegetarian natural products.

Please note that we request our visitors and volunteers to abstain from intoxicants and extramarital relationships to preserve the sanctity of the project.

What you need to bring:

A sleeping bag, roll mat if you have one, a torch, hat, sun block, an extra pair of sandals (we don´t use outside shoes in the main cabin), a few old clothes for working in the garden.

What you cannot bring:

-Any kind of drugs or alcohol.

-Food that contains any kind of meat (including fish, chicken, etc.) or eggs.

The program includes: Astanga Yoga, Meditation, Vedic philosophy, vegetarian meals, permaculture lessons, and a weekly jungle adventure.

Volunteer Work: For our volunteer program we ask for a donation of $10 a day, $70 a week or $300 a month which goes towards food and staff. Unfortunately we don't have enough money to buy food and to give it free for everyone and we aren't self sustainable yet, that's why we need your help on the economic side.

If you would like to give an extra donation to help to buy surrounding land to protect the animals from hunters it'll be more than welcome too. We'll give you good vegetarian food 3 times a day...(please do not bring any meat, fish or eggs) and we ask you to help out with a minimum of 7 hours service a day, there is lots to do as this project is just starting up.
